BETER Live Casino Software

BETER is a Ukrainian sports, esports and live casino gaming company formed in 2018.

It had seen sustained growth, initially offering its sports and eSports products to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) until Jan 2021, when it opened up to the rest of the world.

In 2022 BETER Live was formed to provide customers with a high-quality live dealer solution. In this review, I’ll closely examine the live casino games and setup of BETER Live.

First Impressions

A lot of work has gone into developing the live casino product. Active clients are using a mix of general play tables and branded tables.

The live casino studio in Ukraine has two themes. The area used for Blackjack and Roulette is dark brown with accents of gold, providing a traditional yet sophisticated-looking environment. In contrast, the Asian-focused games of Baccarat and Sic Bo benefit from an Asian-themed studio, complete with a Dragon snaking its way across the background. The tables here are close together, providing a community feel.

Roulette and Sic Bo have multi-camera angles, while Baccarat and Blackjack have one camera facing the dealer. The High Definition stream auto-adjusts the quality to suit your connection speeds. Syncing of sound with the images is generally very good.

The studio in Romania hosts one Blackjack and one Roulette table, and a themed Asian studio hosts Teen Patti and Andar Bahar.

Overall the quality of the games is good – they all play as you would expect. I have noticed one of two areas that could do with a tweak that would take the game’s presentation from good to excellent. Undoubtedly, by the time this review is published, the good people at BETER Live will already be working on the changes.

BETER Live Blackjack

beter live blackjack

Three versions of BETER Live Blackjack are 7 Seat, Speed, and Gravity Blackjack.

All games use the same set of playing rules:

  • An Eight deck dealing shoe is used, which gets replaced after 50% of the shoe has been played.
  • Vegas rules – the dealer takes two cards on the initial deal/
  • The dealer stands on all 17’s.
  • The dealer uses a manual dealing shoe.
  • You can split pairs.
  • Split Aces get one additional card.
  • You can double on a split.
  • There is a 10 Card Charlie rule, where the player hands win if it has ten cards unless the dealer has BJ.
  • Blackjack pays 3:2.
  • Customers can choose 21 available side bets, with Perfect Pairs and 21+3 being the most popular.
  • Bet Behind is available to seated and non-seated players.
  • Pre-decision is available.
  • The betting time is 10 seconds.
  • Deal Now facility to speed up table deals with a low player count.

The blackjack table layout is clean. Animation is used on the tables to show open seats, and your bets pulsate when it’s your turn to act. Most interactive parts on the table blink/pulsate in various colours. I’m not sure this adds to the game – but it’s certainly different from what other providers do.

BETER Speed Blackjack

Speed Blackjack is a faster version of the general game. After players have received their first two cards, the dealers deal the next card to players that act the quickest, using the pre-decision facility to keep the game flowing.

BETER Gravity Blackjack

beter live gravity blackjack review (2)

Gravity Blackjack is BETER Live’s first multiplier game.

Unlike other live casino providers, BETER has produced a multiplier game of Blackjack that doesn’t mess with the core game.

The multipliers are for the Side Bets. Four side bets, 21+3, Lucky Ladies, Perfect Pairs & Dealer Bust, can benefit from multipliers.

Each game round multipliers of 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x or 10x could be applied randomly to one of the side bets.

If you’ve bet on the side bet with a multiplier, the standard payout is boosted by that amount if the side bet wins!

Gravity Blackjack has an RTP of 99.29%.

BETER Live Roulette

beter live roulette

BETER Live produces three versions of live Roulette. All use the European Single Zero wheel.

  • Standard Roulette
  • French Roulette
  • Auto Roulette

Standard Roulette uses a single zero-wheel with an RTP of 97.30%.

Betting uses a standard betting grid or a racetrack. It’s also possible to place bets using the previous results banner.

Past results statistics are viewable, but there is no option to bet using the statistics.

Special bets are available, as is the option to save previous bets as favourites.

On desktop, the racetrack is depicted as a wheel, whereas on mobile, you get the traditional sausage shape.

The betting time for each game is 20 seconds.

French Roulette

French Roulette uses the same wheel and presenter as standard Roulette but with a traditional French layout on the betting grids.

French Roulette comes with the La Partage rule, which gives back half your even money stake if the result is zero, which is significant as it increases the RTP to 98.65%

Auto Roulette

Auto Roulette uses an actual roulette wheel controlled by compressed air and motors. The game plays like the live dealer version without the dealer.

Auto Roulette is only available as standard European Roulette.

Betting time is marginally quicker at 15 Seconds.

BETER Live uses Roulette wheels made by a UK company, Cammagh, a leading manufacturer of roulette wheels for land-based and online live casinos.

Gravity Roulette Live

Often referred to as a gameshow, this is a game of live dealer European Roulette with multipliers.

gravity roulette multiplier selection

BETER Live has created Gravity Roulette, a Multiplier game of live dealer roulette with a slight twist on what we’d typically expect from such a game.

Up to five numbers are selected each game round for multipliers between 50x and 1000x.

The exciting difference with this version is all Inside-bets qualify for the multipliers.

Regardless of the type of inside bet you place, you will benefit from the multiplier if your number wins and it has a multiplier assigned.

The payouts are adjusted depending on the type of bet you have made. A straight-up bet gets the total value of the multiplier, whereas a Split Bet gets 50%, a Line 33% and a corner 25%.

The RTP is 97.40%.

BETER Live Baccarat

beter live baccarat

Baccarat uses the traditional Baccarat rules, where the hand highest to equalling nine is the winner.

A commission of 0.5% is taken on Banker wins.

When the result ends in a Tie, bets on both hands get returned as a Push.

The betting time is 15 seconds.

The dealing shoe contains eight decks of 52 playing cards. The shoe is exchanged for a full one when usage reaches 50%.

At the beginning of each new shoe, several cards are discarded or “burned”. How many cards are determined by the value of the top card.

You can play six optional side bets – Player/Banker Bonus, Player/Banker pair, Perfect Pair, and Either Pair.

Betting statistics show the number of players and the value of bets on the Banker and Player positions.

A good selection of Roadmaps are available – Bead and Big Roads, with the derived roads of Big Eye, Small, and Cockroach Pig. When selecting the Banker or Player betting positions, you can use a predictor board to test the impact of different betting scenarios on the roads.

The Baccarat tables stream from the Asian-themed studio.

BETER Live Sic Bo

beter live sic bo

Sic Bo is a traditional Asian dice game where you bet on the outcome of three shaken dice

There are 20 seconds of betting time.

The dealer sits at a small table with the dice shaker in the middle. Unlike other games, the dealer holds a microphone and speaks directly into it, providing commentary on the game.

The dealer plays no active role in the game; they are there to comment on it and read the results. A timer controls the actions in the game. After betting time has closed, the dice shaker activates, which shakes for a few seconds before coming to rest. The top face of the three dice determines the result.

The Lobby

The lobby displays all the available tables and games, with active updating of results information and available seats. You can join a table by clicking on one of the empty seat icons.

Images for the tables are not actively updated, so they don’t reflect the dealer presenting on the game. The name is, though, so if you have a favourite dealer, you should be able to see if they are working by glancing through the lobby.

Playable Devices

You can play live casino games on all device types. In my experience, mobile produced the best results, especially in portrait mode. The landscape was OK and on par with the desktop.

The only downside with mobile is that you can’t simultaneously display multiple panels on the screen.

If, for example, you want to view statistics, they would take up the whole screen. On the desktop, you can see the statistics and the table in the same view.

BETER Live Review Summary

The only way to review a product is to use it, so I’ve spent much time playing on the BETER Live tables. I can experience how the games play and the general atmosphere in the studio.

I found the dealers to be excellent. They are well trained and skilled in dealing proficiently.

The games play well, although some non-functional UX issues need addressing to nail the playing experience.

In terms of quality, I found the streaming to be excellent. My main concern was the noise level between tables and the lack of eye contact with the dealers, which are relatively easy to fix.
